He had to be near his fifties, tall, skinny, poorly shaved, with a huge scar covering half his face, and big tired eyes. If it weren't for what I do for a living, I would have been appalled or even scared by this person's appearance.
"You like the beer here?"- he asked me. "Why don't you join me at my table?" - he continued. I looked at the rest of my squad and they all nodded. We were in a habit of meeting strange people in dirty, smelly bars in the middle of nowhere, so we thought we might as well hear a tale or two from this old geezer as long as we're here.
But we sure weren't prepared for what we heard next...
He told us his name was Shai Baroz, he was Israeli, ex- Mossad. He was in the eliminating business, same as us.

The meeting was to take place in a warehouse just outside of La Paz. I remember that being one of the most unpleasant trips in my career. You find yourself grasping for air the first couple of hours..."

"So, I went to the general's hotel, but he wasn't there. I proceeded to the warehouse. I waited there for about three hours when finally a truck pulled up. The general and two other men exited the cabin and went to unload something from the back. What I saw then still haunts me today in my nightmares. It was a cage with a boy inside, he couldn't have been more than 17 years old. He was missing his left arm but that didn't seem to bother him too much. He had bullet wounds across his body, his skin was scraped off on some parts and his eyes were dark red. As soon as they pulled him out of the back of the truck, he started gnawing and banging against the cage. They went inside. I had to act quickly before the buyers showed up."
He continued telling us about how he took care of the two guys and immobilized the general. He wanted to know what it was all about. After a few quick techniques, the general spilled the beans and told him how he stumbled across something officially known as Project Z, which seemed to be a complete military report on a virus that can turn human subjects into the undead. We rushed to our hotel to review the book and all of us felt the anxiety and anticipation together, like three little boys who were given something they had no business thinking about, let alone having in their hands, something so important that made it hard for us to breathe.
I'm gonna fast forward the story a bit here, because, to be honest, there are many parts that are a complete mystery and a blank to me. I can't remember how we got to our hotel, or how fast we got there. It took us awhile to read through the book. Before jumping to any conclusions, we wanted to verify the source and authenticity of it. We knew it would be hard to find someone we could trust, so we took our sweet time doing so.
